Behind the Scenes of Our Block 2025 Backyard: How We Created a Resort-Style Outdoor Oasis
2025 marked a special milestone for Love It Landscaping – our fourth year transforming outdoor spaces on The Block. Over the years, we’ve refined our craft, strengthened our reputation, and learned exactly what it takes to deliver high-end landscaping under extreme pressure.
But this year felt different.
Britt & Taz’s home (House 3) gave us the opportunity to create one of our most cohesive, resort-inspired landscapes yet – a space that feels warm, luxurious, and deeply connected to the architecture of the home.
Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes and walking you through every detail of this unforgettable build.
A Resort Feel Right at Home
The first thing everyone notices is the flow – a seamless journey from the front entry, through the central walkway, past the arbours and dry creek bed, and into the multiple entertaining zones that surround the pool.
Our vision was to design a landscape that felt like a boutique rural retreat.
Warm timbers, soft curves, layered greenery and natural textures all work together to create a calming “holiday at home” aesthetic.
And after four years on The Block, we knew exactly how to bring that feeling to life – even under the show’s famously tight timelines.
The Alfresco Area: A True Outdoor Kitchen & Entertaining Hub
One of the standouts of this backyard is the fully equipped alfresco zone.
With stone benchtops, a woodfired oven, BBQ, built-in storage and gorgeous warm cladding, this space is designed for real life – dinners with friends, summer lunches, weekend pizza nights, and everything in between.
With a full view of the pool and arbours, it becomes the heart of the backyard.
Functional. Stylish. And built with longevity in mind.
The Timber Arbours: A Signature Statement That Will Only Get Better With Time
These arbours have quickly become the defining feature of the backyard – architectural, sculptural, and beautifully handcrafted.
Right now, they create structure, rhythm and a sense of arrival as you walk down the central path. But in the years to come, they will evolve dramatically.
We designed these frames to eventually be covered in lush creeping vines, creating a romantic green tunnel that softens the timber and adds movement, texture and shade.
A future showstopper in the making.
The Dry Creek Bed: Natural Movement & Functional Drainage
A feature we absolutely love in this space is the dry creek bed.
Not only does it add visual interest and contrast to the lawn and paved areas – it also plays an important role in drainage management across the property.
The mix of pebbles, native grasses, stone steppers and planting creates a natural, coastal-inspired look that ties the entire garden together. As the plants mature, this will become one of the softest, most organic features in the yard.
The Pool & Decking: Relaxed Luxury
At the centre of it all is the pool zone, framed by warm-toned composite decking and modern glass fencing. Oversized lounges and resort-style furnishings give the entire area a holiday vibe.
The palette intentionally mirrors the home’s exterior – keeping everything cohesive, clean and beautifully balanced.
The Outdoor Fireplace: A Warm, Inviting Escape
The stone outdoor fireplace is one of those pieces that makes the whole backyard feel like a home.
Wrapped in natural stone with built-in seating and soft furnishings, this area is perfect for late-night chats, winter gatherings or a quiet night in front of the fire. It’s cozy, elegant and positioned to overlook the arbours and lawn.
Firepit & Movie Zone: Where Family Memories Are Made
Another favourite is the firepit and movie zone – a multi-purpose entertaining space that works in every season.
With curved garden edges, deep seating and an open view to an outdoor screen, this area is designed for families. Movie nights, marshmallows, music, or just a relaxed drink around the fire – it’s flexible, inviting and perfectly placed away from the main entertaining hub.
Thoughtful Hardscaping Throughout
Across the entire design, every material was chosen for both function and feel:
- warm brick-style pavers
- curved and straight paths
- textured mulched gardens
- stone accents
- native and ornamental plants
- structured timber elements
These elements pair beautifully with the home’s architectural style and will age gracefully over time.
Our Block Journey: Four Years, Endless Lessons, and a Landscape We Are Proud Of
Being part of The Block for four consecutive years has shaped who we are as a business.
It’s pushed our creativity, sharpened our skills, and taught us how to deliver exceptional work under the kind of pressure you simply don’t experience anywhere else.
2025 was no exception – and this project with Britt & Taz is one we’ll always be proud of.
It’s functional.
It’s stunning.
And it perfectly captures the style and spirit of the home.
